| Kalamazoo , Michigan. Even the name sounds like fun waiting to happen. How can anyone resist visiting this town, just to find out what the town is all about. It was once a fur trading post, and then the Potawatomi gave it to the United States as a gift. Titus Bronson was the settler of record, and the village was once named for him. The town’s citizens soon became disillusioned by Mr. Bronson’s character and actions, and after he was tried and convicted of stealing a cherry tree, the town was renamed Kalamazoo, which means “the rapids at the river crossing. Kalamazoo has been the inspiration for several ship christenings, as well as showing up in many writings and songs. Paper mills, celery and other crops, as well as the first outdoor shopping mall, are what Kalamazoo is noted for. Be sure to make reservations at one of our Bed and Breakfast Inns. You’ll find the accommodations comfortable and relaxing while exploring all the fun things to see and do while vacationing here. If you’ve been doing the driving on this trip, you’ll enjoy watching someone else behind the wheel when you visit the US 131 Motor Sports Park, the Kalamazoo Speedway, or the nearby Galesburg Speedway. There are so many outdoor and sporting events to participate in, but some of the more unique activities would be our hunt club, windsurfing, or ice boating. Motion is the word, as you check out the Gilmore Classic Car Club Museum, the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, or the Train Barn.
