| Near Lake Michigan, in northern Muskegon County, the vacationer will find the town of Whitehall. White Lake is the spot where White River empties into Lake Michigan, and this is where the town found its name. Whitehall began in 1859, and became a city in 1942. In addition to a few manufacturers and other businesses, tourism at the extended marina is the greatest industry of this community. Whitehall truly is a hot vacation destination, so be sure to make reservations at one of our local bed and breakfast inns! Some of the attractions include the White River Station Museum, the World’s Largest Weathervane, and the Montague City Museum. Parks and beaches and golfing and canoeing—all the usual summer sports are provided here, but one of the most exciting draws later in the year is the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. This, as well as the Howmet Theater, the White Lake North Star Cinema, and the fine area restaurants will keep visitors busy in the winter. Be sure to bring your camera, because a vacation to Whitehall, Michigan is something to remember! |
