Coleman is in Northeast Michigan, also known as the sunrise side. It is surrounded by state forests and is close to the bottom of Saginaw Bay. Golfers may head west to Clare, or south to many courses in Mount Pleasant. In the winter, these golf courses turn into wonderlands for cross country skiing. The most challenging cross country ski trails in the area are found in Ringwood Forest, where majestic spruce trees line the trails.
