While most of the gardens are long gone, sold as adjacent lots, this quiet Inn still has a screened back porch that looks out over a 25 year perennial garden – extending the tranquility of the Inn’s inside to the outside. This Inn also offers parking for each of its guests, a nicety not readily available in a town that teems with visitors, especially during the summer tourist season, or when a special event – like the town hosting its annual film festival – is in progress.

Upon entering the Inn, one is immediately drawn to the original Heart Pine flooring and the comfortable feel of the period furnishings. A dining room with its associated Guest Refreshment Area is directly ahead of the entrance area, with stairs to the second level on the left and a parlor off to the right. Screened porch access is via the parlor. Information on the Inn, local area, things-to-do and local items for sale are also conveniently located in the entrance room. Owners’ Quarters (OQ) are located in the expanded portion of the first level, with the kitchen situated between the dining room and OQ. These quarters are comprised of a bedroom, living /dining room combination, wood burning fireplace and a private bath with shower stall. Behind the Inn there is a private, fenced rear yard with patio area, currently reserved for the owner.

Two Guest Rooms are on the first level, one named for a daughter of the original owner (with private hot tub on an adjacent porch) and the other in honor of Susan B. Anthony, who both visited and stayed at the home (also with private hot tub/porch). This latter room is accessible to those with physical limitations, thus making this Inn the only B&B in town which provides an ADA guest accommodation.

 

With its 4500 square feet on three levels, the entire second level is devoted to Guest accommodations that are roomy, and, like every other Inn room, include an ensuite bathroom. Additionally, all rooms have a fireplace (gas or electric), while two have jetted tubs. All of the guest rooms – and the public areas – have been redecorated in the past six (6) years.

On the third level is a full suite, comprised of a living area with fireplace, two bedrooms and a full bathroom. This provides an ideal set-up for couples or families who are traveling together and families with children. This cozy area is secluded and away from the “traffic” of other guest areas.

An optional cottage is being leased by the current owners, and this lease may also be transferred to new ownership. This cottage is located behind the fenced-in Owner’s Area to the rear/side of the Inn, and provides an ideal area to put families with small or active children, those with difficulty climbing stairs, guests with a dog or those whose simply wish to be apart from the other guests. This cottage has its own bedroom, a living area with sofa bed, kitchen and outside hot tub.
