You are cordially invited to visit us here in Harrison, Michigan, for a great getaway, featuring our history, our water fun, and our close proximity to the city--where you can easily attend events as a side trip. The town of Harrison was named for Harrison Carey, one of the area's first surveyors, as well as in honor of President William Henry Harrison. Wilson State Park is bordered on the east by Budd Lake. Such beautiful woodland! Harrison was a rough and tough town back in the early days. Saloons, race tracks, dance halls--all contributed to the atmosphere of this lumberjack town. Speaking of logging, one of the early settlers at Harrison invented a machine on a huge tripod which tore gigantic stumps out of the ground. He charged 50 cents per stump. Budd Lake, Snug Haven Lakeside Resort, and Duggan's Livery are all locations where canoes and kayaks can be rented for some excitement on the water. Rowboats are also available for a more quiet and relaxing cruise! Yes, Harrison, Michigan is certainly a destination of choice.
