Jackson is about 45 minutes west of Ann Arbor, in Southeast Michigan. It is a town with a rich history, wonderfully preserved in its architecture, museums, and festivals. Jackson was the site of Michigan's first state prison, built in 1839; segments of the old stone facility are still visible in town. When in need of a little nature, head to Cascades Park just out of town and sit by the amazing Cascade Falls. Nearby Waterloo State Recreation Area provides miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
