Ginkgo Tree Inn

These photos simply ooze the charms of yesteryear, don't they? But everything is new, refurbished or renovated in this warm and elegant inn that opened in 2012 and expanded a year later.

Centrally located in the mitten, The Ginkgo Tree Inn is within Mount Pleasant's walk-able downtown area but overlooks 50-acre Island Park surrounded by the Chippewa River. Many guests stay here in connection with events at Central Michigan University, three minutes away. And of course, many visit Soaring Eagle Casino, five minutes away.

Adelaide's Bistro inside The Ginkgo Tree Inn serves scrumptious lunches Monday-Saturday, 5 course dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings and take & bake meals 7 days each week.  Don't forget the desserts, made fresh by our very own Aunt Libby!

Let's talk accommodations:  Two adjacent homes, each with it own personality, comprise this in-town bed and breakfast.

The main house has a Victorian feel, with its broad veranda and turret and "painted lady" hues of green, gold, burgundy and brown.

Choose from five guest rooms, most bearing the names of trees. One TripAdvisor reviewer said, "Pick any room, you can't go wrong."

For example, the Golden Oak room is a suite that gives you the sunrise and incorporates your own private seating area in the turret.

Or, if you choose the Sugarplum Room, with its balcony overlooking the Chippewa River, an option is to add the Lincoln Library to accommodate an additional traveling companion or to turn your room into a spacious suite. When not annexed to the Sugarplum Room, the library is available as a sitting room for all guests.

Walk through a garden to the second house that comprises Gingko Tree Inn. Chez Mimi is named for the former innkeeper's French grandmother, who was a famous artist, and is decorated in tres French colors of black, white, gray, red and light blue. With all of its updates, you'd never know that the house dates to 1894. The four rooms, two with private baths, accommodate eight people.

The main house at Ginkgo Tree Inn has an handicap-accessible first floor, but the bedrooms are not. Chez Mimi has two first floor bedrooms for people who prefer not to climb stairs. However, they are not ADA-certified.

Something that isn't new about Ginkgo Tree Inn is the owner-innkeeper's experience in providing outstanding hospitality. The Lieber's have over 40 years combined experience in the hospitality services.  Chef Pete is an Executive Chef, has managed/directed hotels and country clubs and currently creates all menus for breakfast as well as Adelaide's Bistro.  Alanna has been planning events and caring for guests for nearly 15 years locally.  Together they make a wonderful team to ensure your stay exceeds expectations.

If you're looking for a venue for a wedding, tea, family or business gathering or just a fun soiree, Ginkgo Tree Inn is top notch.  

If your event doesn't require a formal banquet hall, Alanna and her staff at Ginkgo Tree Inn are well equipped to assist you in hosting smaller parties on site.  

Events held at the inn can accommodate:
-- The first floor of the inn, with seating for up to 32. This is a great place to hold, for example, a Paris-themed tea party or dinner, complete with gold chargers and cutlery and vintage china teacups. (We love helping you pull off a successful themed party. Civil War? Route 66? Bring it!)
-- The backyard patio overlooking the Chippewa River and Island Park can accommodate groups of up 60. Its gazebo has framed many a bridal couple as they take their vows.
-- Adjacent to the patio is an intimate riverside bar that seats up to 12 and is open to any guest of the inn.
-- The inn also has been the site of parties under a tent for up to 200 people.

When it comes to events, Ginkgo Tree Inn does it all: Weddings, showers, rehearsal dinners, receptions, teas, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, company meetings, holiday gatherings, appreciation banquets, graduation open houses, proms, and any other type of gathering.

If your event is larger or requires a banquet space but you would still like catering from Chef Pete, consider our sister company, The Cruisin' Chef Catering.  Chef Pete and Alanna will customize your menu to fit any taste and budget, and help you plan your event to the very last detail.  Have a kooky idea?  Don't be afraid to ask - we love new ideas!

If your "event" is a romantic getaway for two, Ginkgo Tree is an ideal spot for that. Ask about our additional services: roses or assorted flower arrangement; attractive baskets containing flowers, wine and chocolate or wine and delicacies to nibble on. We can arrange therapeutic or deep-tissue massages for you.

And what about breakfast? We serve a multi-course plated breakfast at individual tables between 8 and 10 a.m. You choose the time the night before. When the inn is full, Chef Pete prepared a delicious breakfast buffet.  Do you have a food allergy or dietary need? Simply let us know when booking.

Cancellation Policy

A credit card number will be necessary to make a reservation. Any cancellation is subject to a $25  processing fee per room. After 7 days prior to arrival, you will be charged a one-night room rental. No-shows are charged the full amount of their reservation.
