Sheridan House
Although located in a small Newaygo County town just 50 minutes northwest of Grand Rapids, 35 minutes from Grand Haven and 25 minutes from Lake Michigan, Fremont is big on hospitality.
The birthplace of Gerber Baby Food, Fremont justifiably proclaims itself the "Baby Food Capital of the World," a distinction celebrated each year with the National Baby Food Festival in July.
Enjoy time relaxing next to the lake or sitting around an evening camp fire. Bring a bike and enjoy our rural beauty or stroll on the nearby non-motorized path.
The Fremont Airport is only minutes from the inn. If you're arriving by plane, let us know and we will pick you up. Or head over to the airport to try skydiving, available on most weekends.
If you can tear yourself away from the beauty of our 800-acre lake, in less than an hour's drive, you will find wineries, the beaches and sand dunes of Lake Michigan, Michigan Adventure and Meijer Gardens. Explore other nearby towns, make use of the nearby Tamarac Fitness Center or dine in one our restuarants.
Want to do some star gazing? The Steven Wessling Observatory is only minutes from the inn.
Of course, you may find that just relaxing in the comforts of The Sheridan House is the perfect break.
Hospitality just seems to run in the family here. Innkeeper Lou was a founder of the Harrington Inn in Fremont and in 2010 led a group of investors who acquired and renovated the inn. He's now general manager there.
But The Sheridan House is something we do for love. Our past guests have been exceptionally kind and generous in their comments on review sites like Trip Advisor. But the thing that -- to us -- really validates that we're on the right track with respect to the experience we try to provide is that three out of four guests have stayed with us before.
Our two king rooms are separated by a large Great Room with fireplace, wet bar and three-season sun room. Our standard are high, our rates reasonable.
