Bed and Breakfasts Michigan for Nightlife, Theater & Fun After Dark

Michigan is hopping after sunset. There are vibrant communities across the state - from the big cities to the small towns - that understand the importance of live music, theatre, film, and art. Talk to the innkeepers at Michigan bed and breakfasts; ask them where they go to the theatre, the cinema, and to hear live music.
Detroit is Motown. It should be no surprise, then, that music is important here and around the state. There are always dozens of music festivals on the calendar - the hard part is deciding between them. It’s impossible to find a month without at least one music festival.
Listen to the Blues when the mercury drops, at the Detroit Anti-Freeze Blues Festival or the Ferndale Blues Festival. Folk music fans flock to the Ann Arbor Folk Festival or the Cooper’s Glen Music Festival in Kalamazoo. Head to West Michigan for the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, or a Bluegrass Festival. Stomp those feet during the North American International Banjo Convention. Celebrate the joining of two cultures in Mid Michigan at the Annual Rock-N-Reggae Bash.
Classical and Jazz music thrive in Michigan, too. Kalamazoo highlights the music of Bach for a week in May. Southeast Michigan hosts the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival each June. Jazz Festivals occur throughout the state: the Detroit area has several, West Michigan hosts the Saugatuck-Douglas Festival each July, and Flint hosts a Jazz Festival in August.
There is also first rate theatre in Michigan. The Kalamazoo area boasts nearly a dozen theatre companies, where cutting edge, provocative work is the norm. Jackson hosts the Michigan Shakespeare Festival each summer, as does Grand Valley. Grand Rapids has many small, independent theatres.
Film thrives wherever the climate can be challenging (and while we love Michigan winters, they can be cold). Ann Arbor has been running a film festival in March since 1962, and brings in foreign and independent films year round. Kalamazoo hosts a Francophone Film Festival, a local film festival, and even a teen film fest. Grand Rapids hosts the Michigan Film Festival. The list goes on and on.
When traveling to Michigan bed and breakfasts, plan for at least one night on the town. Look forward to excellent restaurants, first rate theatre, fantastic concerts, and good films. Don’t worry if you stay out late - you can always sleep in.

Acts at LexMTC include headliners like Eddie Money, Jeff Daniels and Raul Malo, comedy acts like Gallagher, and acts that pay tribute to great performers like Michael Jackson and the Beatles.
