Pinckney is an hour northwest of Detroit, nestled between the Brighton State Recreation Area and the Pinckney State Recreation Area. It is easy to run away to a Pinckney Michigan bed and breakfast and have a taste of Northern Michigan here in Southeast Michigan.
There are three golf courses in Pinckney, and is not uncommon for guests to arrive at bed and breakfast Pinckney Michigan with clubs in tow. Whispering Pines Golf Course was voted best public golf course in Livingston County. Timber Trace Golf Club is an American Links style course and is a certified member of the Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Program. This is an excellent choice for people interested in Green Travel.
With thoughts of green travel in mind, leave the car at the Pinckney Michigan bed and breakfast and explore the rural countryside on Lakelands Trail State Park. It runs about fifteen miles on an abandoned rail line between Pinckney and Stockbridge, and is fantastic on foot, bike, skis, and even horseback (on specific stretches of trail). Keep an eye out for local farms offering u-pick fruit and vegetables, and take home a basket of fresh produce.
The Pinckney Recreation Area contains 11,000-acres and numerous lakes. Rent a rowboat, paddleboat, kayak or canoe and get out on the water, with or without a fishing pole. The fishing is great here, even in the winter. This vast wilderness makes outdoor recreation irresistible: there are trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing or snowmobiling, and dozens of lakes for swimming, boating and fishing.
On the other side of town, Brighton State Recreation Area is also a terrific place to go for cross country skiing, horseback riding, and mountain biking; it has trails dedicated to each activity.
Spend a few nights at a Pinckney Michigan bed and breakfast any time of year - the only problem will be deciding where to start exploring this splendid region.
